OVERVIEW
Built for small development company Revolution Homes, the residential quadplex works within the townhouse typology that is increasingly prevalent in Houston. The four-unit set, located in the historic Near Northside neighborhood, introduces a sensible densification on infill lots to meet the tight constraints of the Houston real estate market, while engaging with the neighborhood fabric of single-family homes. A mid-market housing along a light-rail system, the project proves that a dense development can be accessible to first-time homeowners.
The collectivity of project is expressed by articulating them as a set of objects with color progressions and cuts in each building. The cuts in parapets index views toward Downtown. Through a common driveway that sets the units back from the street, and a shared greenspace that extending out to the neighborhood sidewalk, the project engages with the scale of the neighboring single-family houses, while also giving the residents their privacy.
