OVERVIEW

Designed for an open-aired atrium above a traffic intersection—one of the many elevated walkways that connect the office towers in Downtown Houston, In the Round is a permanent installation made of perforated fabric. The oval geometry takes cue from the moving traffic through the intersection, while the soft, nonplanar edges of the fabric produce distinct and unexpected figures with each successive planimetric cut. Viewers on the ground-level are presented with its inner façade, while the viewers on the elevated walkway engage with its exterior façade. (With SCHAUM/SHIEH)
